Construction Contract Payment Clauses - Carrots and Sticks and Bricks

For immediate release

By Jim Landgraf and Bob Incollingo - Co-Chairs

By far the most common payment structure for construction contracts is the simplest: full payment upon completion.  For all but the shortest projects, though, more complicated arrangements with draw schedules and retention clauses are called for.  Alternative payment methods such as time and materials, the several varieties of cost plus, fixed price plus incentive, and others equip the more sophisticated draftsman to minimize unfair loading and incentives to breach.

The Construction Law Sub-committee of the Burlington County Bar Association Civil Practice Section is pleased to present a new “Lunch and Learn” continuing legal education program on "Construction Contract Payment Clauses - Carrots and Sticks and Bricks," a Zoom seminar scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

To join the Construction Law Sub-committee, you can find your membership application online at https://burlcobar.org/membership.php.  Sign up and see what it’s all about.
