“Umbrella Liability Insurance for Contractors” CRIS Recertification

For immediate release

I just completed a great online course on umbrella liability insurance for contractors, and renewed my certification as a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) through the International Risk Management Institute, Inc. for another year.  The course description says, “The litigious nature of American society arguably makes a commercial umbrella policy the most important kind of insurance policy that a business can purchase.”  I think there’s a veiled dig at litigiousness in there somewhere, but I set prejudice aside in favor of a better understanding of the structure, scope and key functions of umbrella policies.  And the topic is undeniably important, especially in construction, where common conditions, limitations, and restrictions in coverage can conflict with contract provisions and create gaps in coverage.
